My big reading project is to read most of the classics of Western literature. Last year I started reading the Bible, finished the Illiad, and this year I read the Odyssey (good timing for the movie).
Sophocles - The Three Theban Plays | Having finished the extant works of Aeschylus, Sophocles is the next great Greek playwright for me to tackle.
Spinoza - Ethics | Currently doing a slow-reading of this with the book club I am a part of.
The Hebrew Bible | Finished reading Jeremiah, will be reading Ezekiel soon. I never read the Bible growing up despite being raised in a fairly religious area and it's fun to see all these stories I was told as a kid in their original (well, in translation since I can't read Biblical Hebrew). Examples include Noah's Ark, David and Goliath, and the Exodus story.
The Condensed Copleston | I love the history of philosophy. I've been reading Copleston's highly acclaimed History of Philosophy, but getting through all 11 volumes is a monumental task. The Condensed Copleston is a modern synthesizing of Copleston's great series into a single book.
Japan | I went to Japan last month with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovely trip, despite Mt. Fuji being covered in clouds and fog most of the time. We spent a few days in Fujikawaguchiko and spent four days in Kyoto, one of our favorite cities in Japan. If you ever get the chance, Musoshin Gion has the best ramen I've ever had. It was my first time trying legitimate Japanese ramen and it's almost ruined ramen for me because it's that good. Also, the Samurai Museum and the Deer Park in Nara were two major highlights on our trip.
Colorado | We are going for my girlfriend's birthday. My parents live in Ft. Collins and they will be planning everything and taking us up into the mountains for a nice getaway. We will be spending at least one night in a cabin up in Estes Park and doing some stargazing while there.
South Park | I've been a fan of the series since high school and I'm just now watching it chronologically. Now up to season 11. It's been interesting seeing it morph from ridiculous, crude humor to political and social satire, with plenty of crude humor no doubt.
Ed Edd n' Eddy | My girlfriend and I enjoy rewatching cartoons from our childhood. This is one I haven't seen since I was a kid and it's been very fun seeing it with fresh eyes.
The Odyssey | I found Nolan's retelling of this Greek Epic to be outstanding. Maybe one of the best films of the decade. My girlfriend and I are desperate to see it in 70mm IMAX before it leaves theaters.
Working my current job at AVM-LSMT. My goal is to land a more dedicated IT role at a company that has room for growth and a mission that inspires me.
Learning Spanish. Recently started reading The Routledge Colloquial Guide to Latin American Spanish and I've been finding it much better than using DuoLingo.
Currently happily living in Austin, TX with my girlfriend Staci and our cat Odessa.
Current projects include building Staci's PC and setting up a Minecraft server for the two of us.
